A mixed week on the course this week with great weather during the week then a mixed bag at weekend.
Another healthy field on Saturday with a 100 players entering the 4 man team event. It was a best two to score from four. The conditions were much tougher than they were during the week with the winds picking up even more for the afternoon players. Congratulations go to four new members with a great score of 82 points. The full results were:-
1st Place Mike Thompson, Steve Mitchell, Matt Sutton & Kevin Daley 82 Points
2nd Place Chris Lomas, Martin Harrison, Mark Verrall & Dave Chappell 80 Points
Well done to all who played
Just a reminder that this Thursday night is the cut-off date for entries into the Fielding and Froden Trophy knockouts. Quite a few added on the list last week. The draw will be made Thursday night at 9pm after the cut off.
This coming Thursday night, 16th April 2015, is the sign up for Saturday 25th April 2015 which is the Phoenix Trophy Board Competition which is an aggregate stableford competition and you play together with you partner on the day
This coming Saturday 18th April 2015 is the Derek Oldham Single Stableford competition which is the first board competition of the year. There are a handful of people on the reserve list for the morning and the afternoon so if anyone pulls out, please let these players know. There are tee times available from 3.45pm onwards.
Just a note about signing on. There is now a reserve list on the notice board which will be directly below the start sheet for Thursday nights. If you can’t make the Thursday night draw, put your name on the list and we will fill the gaps in on the sheet. Please make sure you state AM or PM if you have a preference. If anyone can’t get up to put their name on the reserve list through work commitments etc, if you email me and let me know I will add you to the reserve list.
Yesterday was the first 18 of the Blincoe Cup. Unfortunately due to the bad conditions the competition was abandoned after 7 holes. This will be replayed next Sunday
Congratulations go out to Joanne Dean and Becky Owen who continue to fly the Tunshill flag in the Daily Mail Foursomes. In what was a very close game, the pair managed to edge out their rivals from Lobden Golf Club to win 2 & 1 and progress to the third round.
Well done to the both of you
The Junior section kicked off last Wednesday night with the opening day medal competition. Congratulations go to the winner Harrison Grattan. Well done
The first Tuesday 9 Hole competition is tomorrow night. The format has been changed to stableford and will be played on the back nine holes. Players will be able to tee off on holes, 10, 12 or 16 only. Make sure your names are on the start sheets in both locker rooms. If you finish your round before the clubhouse is open, put your scorecard and £2 competition fee in the letterbox on the boiler room door in the gents. Ladies can you keep yours together in your locker room please
It is only 6 weeks till the open day now which is on the Sunday 24th May 2015 which is a bank holiday weekend. I am sending the letters out to all the surrounding clubs this week to try and help fill the sheet. I have had a good response so far with 14 out of the 25 available tee times filled in. I would like if possible to get more Tunshill members on this sheet and inviting guests. It is £64.00 per four man team including food before and after plus prizes which is great value. I am particularly keen to fill the early morning slots which haven’t been taken up yet. If some of the morning players could have a look and see if they can play and get a team together. We have some great prizes and it would be great if we could see a full sheet for the open day rather than the last two efforts we have had. There is a great band on at night time as well. The Brightsparks will be playing a mixture of old and new music at the Open Day social so maybe even make a day of it and bring your guests and partners up for the night as well.
Hope you all enjoy your week and see you all at the weekend
